Yes it is an operating system but the first tablet with it will be very exciting. It will have the power of windows but with an interface that builds on WinPhone 7’s touch friendly tiled menus and will run on compact low-power devices.

The slimmest tablet so far at just 7.7mm. The AT200 aims to dismiss all memory of Toshiba’s terrible debut. The screen is 10in, the processor 1.2Ghz and the connections are impressive. Finally the future for Toshiba is looking impressive.

Straight after the ipad 2 launch there was talk that the real evolution would come with the third iteration. We are expecting a higher-res retina display and NFC for starters and new rumours suggest a slender body of carbon fibre.

Samsung is hoping to make a bigger impact the original 7in tab did. Now that it has cast out android 2.2, it just might with a 3.2 honey comb, a 7.7in AMOLED screen and a 1.4Ghz processor.

Reports claim that Amazon’s first tablet will build on the Kindle’s success by being affordable and hooking directly into Amazon’s app and book stores. It will have an android OS and not honeycomb and its 7in display will ditch E-ink for colour LCD
