Today, Motorola is trying get a piece of the pie with its Motorola Defy+. Just like its name, it seeks to defy the odds at which it is pitted against. Who will trade the iPhone for a Motorola has been, or else get the Defy+ when you have the Galaxy in your hands? Well, it seems that Motorola executives have finally got the trick. install one of the savviest OS in the industry, the Android 2.3, and execute a design that is well past acceptable, and you have a chunk of the pie.
Just like its name the Motorola Defy+ seems to defy all the rules of smartphone technology. It is water resistant and dust proof, and is enveloped in a special coating of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass, one of the most advanced scratch resistant substances in the world today. It is so secret, its exact make up is secret.
It also comes with a swipe keyboard. This means that instead of tapping the screen you swipe your finger from one letter to the other, which may take some getting used to but it is a great alternative to the usual direct poking.
The Defy+ is also one of the fastest phone in the industry today. Of course, not as fast as the XE Sensation of HTC, but decently fast as well. Reviewers tried the Internet browsing and were quite pleased to know that Motorola has what it takes to compete with the iPhone and the Galaxy S2. Fast reliable browsing is the holy grail of mobile Internet, and the Defy+ has it all.
And now, the blunt part. Does the Defy really have what it takes to shove that iPhone out of the number one spot? Perhaps that is not what the top bosses at Motorola are thinking, and the answer is no, not with a 3.7-inch screen display and a regular passable 5 megapixel camera that offers nothing new. The 1Ghz processor lacks the dual-core power that other smartphones have already hooked up with, all the rest are okay. What is likeable about this new gadget is the maps feature. It has access to Google Maps, and provides one of the most accurate and precise navigation systems any smartphone can offer. Oh, and the price is also much cheaper than the galaxy and the iPhone, another plus point to Defy+!
Against all odds however, Motorola has succeeded in making a DECENT competitor for the galaxy and the Apple, albeit new never really the backyard of the company. The greatest achievement of Motorola so far is staying alive, despite being caught in a cutthroat competition between rivals. The Motorola Defy+ is an excellent hello-I-am-here note to these two giants Apply and Samsung. Nevertheless, coming out with a decent smartphone of its own is a very bold move.
We think that when it comes to rugged phones, there is none that is tougher or smarter then the Defy+
