Samsung's Galaxy S3 has hit another milestone: 30 million sales worldwide, The Verge reports.
Samsung Poland made the announcement via its Twitter and Facebook pages. This comes just two months after the Korean giant announced the S3 had sold 20 million units in its first 100 days, less than six months since the phone went on sale. Not bad going at all.
But the S3 isn't the only Samsung device to be flying off the shelves of late. This week Samsung announced its Galaxy Note 2 has already hit 3 million sales, just weeks after launching. That's equal to Google's Nexus 7. It should be noted though, that this figure represents how many Note 2s Samsung has sold to retailers, rather than to customers. Still, it's impressive nonetheless.
There's no word on whether the Galaxy S3's figure of 30 million represents sales to customers, or to retailers, but it's likely to be the latter. I'll update you if I hear anything.
Samsung is sitting pretty atop the Android tree right now, but that could all change with the release of the Nexus 4, LG's latest Google-powered blower. It packs impressive specs -- as well as Android 4.2 -- for a price you'll have to see to believe. There's a 4.7-inch display and 8-megapixel camera, yet it costs just £239. That's hundreds of pounds less than a brand new Galaxy S3 or iPhone 5. Which could make all the difference, in these belt-tightening times.
Expect more Nexus-branded gizmos on the way, too, as Google is looking to expand its portfolio of devices. Anyone can make a device and call it a Nexus, as long as they meet Google's minimum spec requirements.
